It wasn't long after the Anchorage earthquake on November 30th before news outlets across the country reached out to Anchorage locals to gather coverage of the aftermath. A member of The Washington Post's talent network called, and I was able to provide the footage between :38 and 1:07
Music Video — Gas Station Disco: 'Intentions'
This is the latest music video collaboration between Director Justin Lawrence Hoyt and Ashlar Media, and his vision was broad enough that some extra production muscle was necessary to achieve the best result -- so we were pretty thrilled when Zak Melms from Peak 3 LLC joined the team and helped us do this project creative justice.

It's been a long journey adapting San Diego author Jim Ruland's short story, Kessler Has No Lucky Pants, for the screen, but there's finally an end in sight. If you like dark and witty and want the story directly from the source, order Jim's anthology, Big Lonesome, from his website: http://www.jimruland.net/

Christmas Lights
December, 2016 -- Director Justin Lawrence Hoyt pulled together a great crew on short notice to create this music video for Turquoise Boy's song, Christmas Lights, and it would go on to be featured as an Official Selection of the Canberra Short Film Festival and Toronto International Independent Film Festival. Beth Skabar donated her Canon C300 to the cause, and Jeremy Blake helped me shoot while Chris Thomas gaffed and Myra Johnson cracked the whip as Assistant Director.

Nina Simone
After listening to his Hope, Alaska album, I contacted Jonathan Bower to gauge his interest in creating a music video to enter in NPR's Tiny Desk Contest. He was game, and with the help of another shooter and good friend, Jeremy Blake, we shot this one night at Studio 2200 in South Anchorage.

Dance Fight!
October, 2016: When the opportunity for a creative collaboration with interpretive dance machine and viral video star Justin Lawrence Hoyt arose, there was no hesitation from Ashlar Media. We shot this on his DJI Osmo, a gimbal stabilized camera whose small profile made negotiating the rocky terrain feel a bit safer.

No Place Like Nome
April, 2016: While a small budget and difficulty finding lodging in Nome, Alaska during the Iditarod dog race limited the production of this video to a one-person operation, embracing a rough aesthetic and finishing with a stylized color grade were the keys to delivering a satisfying finished product to the Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation when they hired Ashlar Media to create an informational video about the red king crab fishery in the Norton Sound region of Northwest Alaska.

The Salmon Sisters
October, 2015: Ashlar Media collaborated with the Element Agency in Anchorage to create a short informative piece telling the story of two Homer, Alaska based siblings who developed Salmon Sisters, a seafood and apparel company. The video was to serve as a part of Element's broader initiative, The Salmon Project, illustrating the relationship between Alaska's people and wild salmon.
